Let's make your first visit easier.

Taking your child to a new provider can bring plenty of questions: What happens during the consultation? Will my child need treatment? What information should I bring? What happens afterward?

We want you to feel prepared before you arrive. Here is what parents should know.

Steps For Consultations

Tell Us What's Been Happening

Before your consultation, think about the primary reason you're seeking an evaluation. Parents may notice concerns involving:

Don't worry about determining whether these symptoms are caused by a tongue tie. That's what the consultation is for.

Gather Helpful Information

If another professional referred your child, please bring any information that may help us understand their concerns. This might include information from your child's:

If your child is currently receiving therapy, let our team know when scheduling.

Your Child's Evaluation

During your visit, we'll discuss your concerns and evaluate your child's oral structures and function. The goal is to understand whether an oral restriction may be contributing to the symptoms you're experiencing. We don't evaluate children based on appearance alone. Function matters.

We'll Discuss What We Find

After the evaluation, we'll explain our findings. Parents are encouraged to ask questions. Depending on your child's individual situation, recommendations could include monitoring, supportive therapy, additional evaluation, or discussing treatment options when appropriate. No two children are exactly alike.

Understand The Next Steps

If additional care is recommended, we'll explain what should happen next. Your child's care plan may involve collaboration with other professionals. Charlotte Tongue Tie Center partners with Bubbles Pediatric Dentistry and can help families access speech therapy resources through our professional network when appropriate.
